We have told you about the marvels of an indoor play area called PlayMatters in Seattle (click here for review on PlayMatters).
Besides the importance of having a space dedicated to free or directed play where children can develop their fine and gross motor skills, cognitive skills and social skills, while building self-confidence we wanted to tell our Seattle Mom readers about PlayMatters opening their doors to pre-school this January 4th, 2010. Children from 3 to 5 years old will benefit from a program that is set to meet their developmental, physical, educational, mental and emotional needs.
The Preschool Program consists of small and large group activities, where a balance of child-directed and teacher directed activities throughout the day is closely monitored to ensure math, language, reading and other teachings are imparted properly.
Since pre-school is at the play center, enrolled students will benefit from the free play centers which are designed for children guided learning through role playing, imagination exploration and creativity development.
As you will read on their website, "The family/parent-oriented philosophy is an integral part of the preschool program. Communication is done though monthly activity calendars, newsletters, written logs, parent workshops and other special events. Parents are encouraged to become active members of our program by assisting during classes or observing in the classroom."
