A great ingredient addition to your repertoire: Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions

We must confess this product sat on our kitchen and in the back of our office as we were not quite sure what the best way of testing it would be. Then, we experimented a bit. The result is that I love the versatility of the Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions.
We tried several different recipes: Pancakes, smoothies, pizza, and granola. It truly pleases more than one of your senses as you discover this versatile oil. To begin, it smells like coconut, as you would expect, but just enough not to take over and make you dizzy which in turn is perfect for cooking as the coconut flavor does not shine through in the recipes. Hence, you can easily replace your regular vegetable oil in cooking and baking for the coconut oil. It does; however, enhance the sweet flavors of sugary formulas you prepare.

The consistency of this Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil, prepared by hand and following traditional production methods in the Philippines, is slightly heavier than that of olive oil.

We believe that most times, great beauty secret always starts with natural ingredients, and so this coconut oil brings us important antioxidant levels. Remember that antioxidants are powerful allies in the fight against aging! With this in mind we decided to test the product on our hair, it isn’t sold as a beauty product, but the shine and soft feeling we resulted with after leaving a few drops of oil in our hair was great, plus the coconut smell was pleasant and not overbearing. Our next move was mixing it in with a very thick sun screen we had. We ended with a beautiful dark tan that left our skin feeling hydrated and soft. We can’t say it was all due to the oil, but our guess is that the combination of sunscreen and coconut oil was a good idea. Currently some of our mom testers are trying the oil as part of their beauty routine, one expectant mom is using it to prevent stretch marks( we will keep you posted on that one). I have a mixed skin so I am a bit weary of using it on my face, but I can tell you that it soothes my chapped lips and rough elbows very effectively! Remember when you try it that after all it is oil, and will be greasy, so measure your dabs carefully! Even better, go to their site and discover the beauty products they already have available to us. When you get there you will find they also have household products, pet products and much more! I really have to try their hair treatment LOL.

Back to the kitchen though, I highly recommend this oil for preparation of dishes that call for coconut milk (most in my household are Thai or seafood related) check out the Free Coconut Recipe website found here http://www.freecoconutrecipes.com/index.htm . At this website you will see the many different ways coconut can be used in cooking! Tons of yummy ways to introduce coconut oil into your meals!

This caught our attention of the company : “We have a strong commitment to family farming and organic standards. But the organic label is not enough for us. We research and find out where the products are produced, and how they are produced. We find that some organic standards too loose for our trust, so we look beyond what is claimed on a label. We find out as much as possible about those who provide the products. And if a certain quality of product does not exist, we will work with others to produce that product and offer it to our consumers. We did that with Virgin Coconut Oil in the Philippines, and we are working on several other products both here in the US and outside the US that we plan to introduce to you soon.”

So, stay tuned because they run a lot of special sales, and their product line is expanding. You will be sure to find something extraordinary from them that will become a fixture at your household.
