Once upon a century ago, it seems, music and books dominated my me time. As a mom only little munchkins fill up 120% of my time now.
My only moment of respite to listen to music has been taken up by listening to the news in the car when I am alone. Just trying to keep up with the world around me.
This being said, I miss my music!

I am bringing this to the forefront of my life. I have started by listening to my favorite genres: chill, rock in Spanish and some electronica but now those are more of good memories. Soda Estereo and Enanitos Verdes are groups that immediately took me back in time. Definitively a must hear for iconic latinamerican rock. Now, I want more.
The thrill of discovery itch is upon me and I am on it :-) Oh, yes! #SeHablaMusica!!! We talk music!!

Last week, I started by asking friends what music they were all listening too. It turns out this is a very personal question. Some shared more freely than others. The result was enjoying Tango electronico which is a mix of the traditional Argentinian Tango sounds with the electronica beat and characteristics. Plus new songs from my favorite Brazilian singer Marissa Montes (new album is o que voce quer saber de verdade- a loose translation: what you really want to know)
Public radio gave me a name I am impressed by and truly enjoying Rachel Zafira
This is a young Canadian artist classically trained for Opera and several different instruments who is now living and recording in London soft and very melodical music with only her voice, as I understand.
Yesterday a coffee shop suggested I downloaded Yeah yeah yeahs by Despair
I listened to it. No conclusions yet.

Today, I am going to see if I can find some world music. Something from Morocco or Japan.
Inspired by my upcoming trip to The City Of lights- beautiful Paris, I will also go searching for some Edith Piaf and for fun Joe Le Taxi by Vanessa Paradis. My trip partner recommended listening to Tout le Monde by Carla Bruni (now First Lady) and anything from Jacques Brel. This should be a kickoff to the French vacation, right?
In the meantime, I will enjoy Fonseca, a Colombian artist I heard about from asking on Twitter what my followers were listening to. He is the leader of a musical movement called Tropipop which blends traditional sounds with pop and rock My favorite song of his so far is "te mandolin flores" I send you flowers.

This is how I am discovering new music and cultures these days.
