In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. He called for all U.S. citizens to celebrate the frozen treat.
Patriotically enough, a little treat has found its way to my refrigerator. It is my true indulgence, the comfort food of the season: Blue Bell Ice Cream.
I am very serious. It taste homemade and flavors just feel natural. Sweetened to the perfect point, you really taste the ingredients on the label.
Take for example my new favorite Almond Pistachio. Truly you can savor the pistachio, it is not just the green making you think you are eating it. For the almonds, I have never seen an ice cream with so many nuts in it, just the way I like it.
Rich in flavor and in the feeling of something your grandma might have lovingly prepared for you, this is not a fad for me, it is becoming a staple in my diet!
Gear up my fellow Americans, the third Sunday is soon approaching, give in, and join in Ice Cream Day!
If you are near a Publix supermarket, it could be your lucky day: prices for this wonderfully delicious ice cream are frequently found at 50% off. If not, don't fret, the pint goes for $1.99 versus the $4 of $5 of other brands.Labels: blue bell, cool, cool moms, cool tips, ice cream, summer
